Rules for submission of images for appraisals and competitions

Appraisal by Johnnie Rogers on 10th June

  1. Members may submit a maximum of 3 jpeg images.
  2. Images may be in any format but must be of a large resolution (no reduction in size is required).
  3. This is an  Open subject appraisal.
  4. The title of the image must be used for the file name
  5. Submissions must be made by 20th May. See the Themes Page for the Dropbox link.





The Brian Evans Memorial Trophy on 22nd July

  1. Members may submit a single digital image.
  2. The image must be a jpeg straight from the camera.
  3. No processing is allowed. The image must not be cropped or reduced in size. Resizing will be done before posting to the web.
  4. In camera filters should not be used. Members may use a polarising filter but no others.
  5. Closing date for entries is midnight on 5th July 2026. See the Themes Page for the Dropbox link.
  6. Entries will be posted to a Google folder for review and scoring by members
  7. Scoring will be online and must be completed by 18th July 2026
  8. There will be one winner. All other entries will be runners up.
  9. In the event of a tie the Chair’s vote will be taken into account.


The Chalice Challenge on 11th November

  1. This competition is for mounted prints.
  2. Prints can be in any format, but maximum size is A3.
  3. The maximum mount size is 50cm x 40cm.
  4. Prints may be produced commercially.
  5. Members may submit up to 3 prints.
  6. Prints should not be submitted in sleeves or envelopes.
  7. Entries must be submitted by 14th October 2026.
  8. The prints will be appraised. Marks will not be given but the judge will award commendations e.g. - commended, highly commended, bronze, silver, and gold.
